While tasty fried with ketchup
In your inbox it can be annoying.
But sometimes, stuck between the viagra ads and the pictures of kittens…
There is something that will make me laugh.
This was one of those times.
Cause really, the word heehaw is just funny.
Made me smile.
For no apparent reason. On a day when I needed a smile.
Thanks you spam.

“Heehaw! Finally, some good news.”

Working on a story today about enrollment numbers in Christian County schools.
Talked to three superintendents so far.
Four more to go.
Please call me back.

Did call a pastor who was waiting in line to see the otters at Sea World.
He has a 20 minute wait and was more than happy to talk.

Just ate some lunch with Adam.
I have my own desk chair now.
Mmmm brisket.

We took a walk this morning.
To add minutes to our count.
It started to rain a quarter of the way through.
In true us fashion, we pressed on.
Needless to say we were a bit damp when we returned to the office.

We are headed to the Ozark Empire Fair tomrrow.
Should be really fun.
I’m looking forward to corn dogs.
And strolling hand in hand down the midway with Adams.

I took Danny to the creek yesterday.
He loved it.
The walk there.
The water.
The walk back.
He proceeded to do the puggy retard roll on the bed.
Such as this:

The puggy retard role, not as demonstrated by Danny.

The puggy retard roll, not as demonstrated by Danny.

Dad grilled sausage for dinner.
It was yummy.

Tomorrow is Friday.
I’m excited about that.
Two day weekend.
Wait, no woo.
I have to work Sunday.

This picture is for Adam.

This picture is for Adam. Ha.

I am waiting for people to call me back.

I think we need to go for another lap around the square.
The rain has stopped.
The goal is 30 minutes today.

I need to cash my mileage check.

I feel in the mood to bake.
I my make cookies tonight.

The vaca planning is on.
World War I museum, check.
Fountains, check.
Power and Light district, check.
Being cute, check.

To end with a bit of laughter.

It's spider-pug. That's just damn funny.

It's spider-pug. That's just damn funny.

Woo ha.

I love being a journalist.
But sometimes its hard.
Like when you have to work more than 40 hours for 40 hours worth of pay.
Like when your company sends out a form letter saying they may, possibly, probably, most likely, we will see MAKE everyone take a 3 percent pay cut.
So not only are the raises they promised would come back in October, not coming back.
Now they are taking more money.
I just went from Kraft macaroni and cheese to Best Choice.
In my time of need I turn to my old friend…
She reminds me that I am not only one in this sinking ship.
Here are a couple of her words of wisdom for today.

Angry Journalist #9038: I’m angry that the journalism grads think papers are hiring them because they’re good. News flash: They’re hiring you because you’re cheap. Why pay $20+ an hour for great, experienced reporters when you can get “good enough” for $9 or $10? Oh, and that laid-off old dude you replaced? There’s your future in journalism right there. Think I’m being cynical? Check back in two years.

Angry Journalist #9040: Do you remember the first time your byline appeared in the paper? The first time it made the front page? The first time you flashed your press credentials and they showed you through the door? I do. It was a thrill. It still is. It is within each of us to be a force of positivity or a force of negativity in this world. That’s what Walter Cronkite did for us. Even in times of emergency and disaster, he framed it in a manner appropriate to the situation. He let us know about the good amongst the bad. That events exist in a tapestry amongst the whole. Some of us have very real and immediate problems. Execution by Taliban extremists. Getting shot at by Iraqi militants. Tried and forced into labor camps by the North Korean government. People truly sacrifice for this noble profession. For most of us? It is a privilege to find ourselves in such august company, even if only for a little while.

Angry Journalist #9033: Two weeks and a billion articles for Michael Jackson, including a special section. Yet we could barely muster three pages for someone who really matters in the history of this country – Walter Cronkite.

Angry Journalist #9032: I’m so angry I can’t even type. I write stories for the paper for two sections, do page layout for three sections by myself, post to the web every fricking second, write for our magazine and am expected to do everything in a 40 hour workday (no overtime allowed) Oh…and they cut our pay.

I too am an angry journalist.

I added a widget.
Wigets are pretty sweet.
See tweetable thoughts on the right.
Think of them as sort of a mini-blog.

Woo ha.

I think this is a block quote.

Here I am.
Blooging again.
I have missed it.
Some of you may be familar with my past MySpace bloggings.
I have since decided MySpace sucks.
But I have not abandonded blooging.
Hence this new format.
I’m a writer.
I could never abandon something I love.
We will see what this Word Press business brings.
So far, user friendly.

Today was Tuesday at work.
Amelia will be on vaca for the next two weeks.
I can feel the stress already.
But at the same time, I know I can handle it.

I just got home.
Started a load of laundry.
And decided to create a blog.
Productive afternoon.

Danny is snoring on the bed beside me.
Little puggy dreams.

I think Adams and I may have found a super cute Halloween costume idea.
Yes I know it is only July.
The best things come with planning.
Especially Halloween costumes.
This junk takes time, effort and money.

Mmmmm Dr. Pepper.

Godfather’s pizza buffet is pretty good.

I think there is a new Deadliest Catch on tonight.
I oddly like that show.
I don’t know why.
I have never had any interest in crab fishing.

I have gotten Adams addicted to cooking show now.
He has joined the darkside.
Chopped, the Next FoodNetwork Star, Top Chef…he watches them all.
Does he love them, or just me, who knows.

Yesterday was our seven month anniversary.
Yes we celebrate the months.
Because each month is a new joy.
I cooked dinner.
It was cute.

Bought tickets to see Coulton in Spetember.
That man can turn a muscial phrase.

It’s only 11 days until my birthday.
I will be a quater of a century.
Damn that feels old.

I think the washer just beeped.

I have no plans for the night.
And it kind of feels nice.

I left my painting supplies at Adam’s.
I could use to be artistic right now.

Pants, pants, pants.

Let’s see what this block quote button does.

does this look any different?
There is no preview function I can see.
Still learning.

DVR is calling my name.
Oh you siren of the great digital masses.

Everybodies pants.
